There are standard aluminium windows then there are 'top of the line' AWS windows from Brisbane Water Glass.
The windows displayed here are powder coated aluminium framed units - using commercially proportioned residential 'AWS' components. The 'bulkier' frames are visually prefered by most people and are similar to the proportions of timber framed windows but offer the durability of aluminium - the 'Duratech' powder coated finish allows style and longevity even in absolute beach front locations.
The best way to protect internal spaces from summer sun penetration is to provide ample over hangs but this is not always possible due to design constraints and possible council restrictions. You may notice in the photo above that the glazing in the top centre window doesn't look as dark as the ones to its right. BWG has utilised the 'Comfort Plus' product in various windows including the fixed corner units, casements and awnings windows in the abscense of over hangs. This 'sandwich' product greatly reduces sun penetration during summer and allows more heat to be retained inside during winter.
Between the 'deep lilac' columns above louvred window units (colour 'Precious Nickle Pearl'') have been installed to offer privacy to the dwelling's verandah from the street frontage. In this situation an aluminium louvre option has been utilised to allow the sun, breezes and privacy to be manipulated as required on any given day.
