Many people that don't work within the construction industry have little idea of how a simple home is constructed. Here we have provided (thanks to George Wilkie) a few examples of basic home construction details so you can better understand how your home is 'put together' (and then you can decide if you should buy the book).

Note: All the detailed drawings above are from the book "Building Your Own Home" (by George Wilkie and Stuart Arden). This book is clearly written, easy to follow, and aimed at people who know nothing about building. This book can be found at many libaries, hardware stores (e.g. Bunnings) or at various online booksellers such as CSIRO Publishing.
