Plant description

Agapanthus orientalis 'Black Pantha' is a decorative, hardy, herbaceous perennial plant. It flowers in summer, with large globe shaped heads of flowers of purple blue, and has the darkest of flowers of the agapanthus. The flowers last well as cut flowers. 'Black Pantha' is virtually sterile, making it a good landscaping choice, as it has a low weed problem. It can be mass planted, and is also a good specimen plant, for borders and containers.

Agapanthus are an easy care plant with few pests or diseases. They are drought resistant once established, and suit most soil types. They prefer a sunny position, and will also grow in a lightly shaded spot. Will tolerate some frost.

Propagation of agapanthus is by division of the rhizomatous clump
