Plant description

Aeonium arboreum 'Schwarzkopf' is an evergreen succulent plant with striking dark purple to near black foliage. An easy care plant, it is rarely troubled by pests or diseases. It is a good specimen plant for pots or the garden.

This plant likes a bright light to a sunny position. Hot summer sun can damage the leaves. It is shallow rooted, and most of the water storage is in the stem and leaves. This plant likes regular watering.  Fertiliser is rarely needed. It is frost tender.

Propagation is by division, or cuttings.

This Aeonium is monocarpic, which means that it dies after flowering. It has yellow flowers which are a brilliant contrast against the dark foliage.
