External privacy screens. External privacy screens began to appear in Australian residential and commercial building during the 1950's and 1960's, as a direct result of high density living and higher incomes. For more information and some examples read this article.
Garden Themes. This article describes various garden themes that should work well within Australia.
Bulletproof landscape plants. Not all plants are equal. Many require the soil and climate (amongst other things) to be 'just right'. The plants described in this article are the ones that deserve the title of 'bulletproof' and are a good starting point for an easy-care garden.
Australian Native Orchids. Native orchids range from the spectacular epiphytic (growing on trees) and lithophytic (growing on rocks) species of the tropical jungles and warmer areas of Australia, to the intricately subtle terrestrial (growing in the ground) species found throughout the dry eucalypts forests throughout the continent.
Correa x 'Jezabell' is a lovely low maintenance shrub with gorgeous bright pink red tubular bell flowers in autumn and winter. It has a low mounding habit with naturally dense deep dark green foliage. A most rewarding plant that will help to attract birds to the garden. It likes a sunny spot, but will also grow well in shadier positions. A good shrubbery plant, and a great size and shape for container growing. Suits a wide range of soil types, except for constantly wet soils, as it doesn't like wet feet.
