Plant description

draecena draco

draecena draco dragon tree seeds

Dracaena draco is a monocot perennial plant that has a very ornamental tree-like growth habit. It grows into an umbrella shaped tree, in frost free areas, and makes a good specimen plant for a dramatic effect. It is very salt tolerant, and withstands drought. It also has few pests and diseases, making it an easy care plant. It prefers a sunny position and well drained soil, but can also be grown in a partly shaded position. It is slow growing, so can be pot grown when younger.

The plant will produce flowers once well grown, which are white and lily perfumed. They are followed by decorative red berries. When the plant is cut it produces a red resin, which can be used to stain wood.
