Plant description

A perennial bulb plant that has unusual flowers that bear a resemblance to the pineapple, with its tufted topknot of green. They grow into a clump, and the foliage is glossy green and attractive. It blooms in summer to autumn, and they make great long lasting cut flowers. Best in a sunny spot, in moist free draining soil. Adding lots of compost to the soil before planting will be beneficial. The bulbs are also edible.
