Plant description

Hemerocallus 'Stella Bella' is a clumping superbly hardy perennial plant with golden yellow trumpet shaped flowers on long stems. It blooms and reblooms for up to six months of the year. Each flower lasts just a day, but is quickly replaced by new blooms. It has evergreen strap like long foliage, and is a reliable easy care plant. It is drought tolerant and has few pests and diseases. It suits most soil types.  A sunny position is best, as shade will lessen the flowering. No pruning is required, but removing spent flowers will encourage new blooms. It is frost and salt tolerant.

All parts of the plant are edible. The stamens can be used as a saffron substitute.
