Plant description

Lavender 'Pukehou' is a compact shrub with aromatic flowers and foliage. The flowers are purple and showy and are borne from late winter all through spring, with some spot flowering through the rest of the year. Place where the scent of the plant can be appreciated, near paths, entry ways, windows and courtyards. 'Pukehou' is a New Zealand bred plant and tolerates humidity.

Lavender prefers a sunny position and a well drained soil. Prune after the main flowering to maintain a dense growth habit. They are dry tolerant once established. They are suitable for low hedging, container growing or as specimen plants. They are good for perfumed and sensory gardens.

The perfume of lavender is reputed to aid relaxation and sleep. It can be an allergen.
