Plant description

Livistonia chinensis, the Chinese fan palm, is a medium sized subtropical palm with a robust trunk and glossy green fan shaped leaves with drooping leaf tips. It grows to around 12 metres tall and 5 metres wide. It has cream coloured pannicles of flowers in summer, followed by round blue green fruit. Once established, it will frost. It likes a sunny or part shaded position, and regular watering. When young, this palm can be used as an indoor plant, provided it gets a sunny spot.
