Plant description

Loropetalum chinense, the Chinese fringe flower, is an evergreen, ornamental large shrub, rounded in shape with horizontal layered branches. It bears prolific clusters of fragrant flowers in winter to early spring. There are two forms, one with green leaves and white flowers, the other form has pink flowers and bronze red new growth, and olive green to burgundy foliage when mature. It is rarely troubled by pests or diseases. It will grow on a wide range of soil types. Mulching will keep the root zone cool and deter weeds.
