Plant description

Granny Smith apples are well suited to growing in temperate and subtropical climates, as well as cooler areas. It originated in Eastwood, Australia, in 1868 and was named after Maria Smith who propagated the cultivar from a chance seedling. It is low chill variety. It is a multipurpose apple, being good for eating, cooking and juicing. Harvest time is April to May.

Suitable pollinators for the Granny Smith are Akane, Fuji, Golden Delicious or crabapples.
