Plant description

Ornithogalum 'Starlight' is a perennial plant that grows from a bulb. It can be grown in containers, or as a good garden plant. The tall, spike shaped white flowers are very long lasting as cut flowers, having from 1-3 weeks vase life. It is a hardy and easy to grow bulb, with few pests and diseases. They can be left to naturalise in the garden. 'Starlight' is a tall growing variety, which is the best for cut flowers.

It prefers a sunny postion in a well mulched, well drained soil. They can also be grown in position that gets light, dappled shade. Fertilise with a liquid fertiliser through the growing season. After flowering, the foliage should be left until the plant dies down, as this feeds the next years growth. The plant will die down to ground level in late autumn to winter, and reshoot in spring. They can be left in the ground over winter.

Propagation is by division.
