Plant description

Rhipsalis teres, Old man's beard, is an epiphytic, perennial cactus suitable for tropical to sub-tropical areas. It has pendulous cylindrical, jointed pale green stems and insignificant greenish white, lightly perfumed flowers. Unusually for a cactus, it grows in partial shade to full shade. Water regularly, but do not overwater. It is a good container plant. It is frost tender. Trim the plant to produce more dense foliage.

Propagation is from woody stem cuttings.

This plant is also known as Rhipsalis capilliformis.
