Plant description
Xylosma congestum, the shiny xylosma, is an evergreen shrub to small tree. It is hardy and quick growing, with glossy green leaves. It is adaptable to a wide range of conditions, and makes a great hedging plant, also good for screening. It has pale yellow flowers in autumn, which are lightly fragrant. Once established it will withstand light frosts and dryness.
Xylosma is tolerant of harder conditions, but will flourish with regular fertilising and watering through the warmer months.
Propagate from cuttings.
