Plant description

The variegated maidenhair fern has soft tear drop shaped leaves, green and attractively coloured with cream markings, with stems that are shiny black and arching. Likes a humus rich soil and consistent moisture levels. If allowed to dry out, the fronds will die back, but it can reshoot from the clump. Tidy by cutting back dead fronds to the base. Feed with a half strength liquid fertiliser in the warm months. Does not like direct sunlight, and is best in a shady frost free position. Also good for indoors and container growing.
