Plant description

Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' is a selected form of the hardy herbaceous groundcover plant Ajuga. It has dark purple-black leaves with decorative ruffled margins, and it spreads from underground stolons to form a mat-like groundcover. It is a very useful plant for shady and semi shaded positions, as well as sunny spots. It is frost hardy, and performs well in the heat. It is long flowering, bearing short blue flower spikes in spring and summer. This plant is also good for containers, as a contrast to other plants, as a border and for mass plantings. It likes a well drained soil.
