Plant description

ella

Ella is an alstroemeria that has bright watermelon pink flowers.

Princess lillies are a compact form of alstroemeria that will flower through spring, summer and autumn. Good for border and container growing, they are rarely troubled with pests or diseases. When not in flower, they form a neat compact mound of foliage. The flowers make excellent cut flowers.

Alstroemeria will flower well in sunny or part shaded conditions. In hotter areas they may need protection from the summer sun, so a position in dappled shade in the middle of the day would be preferred, as well as a layer of mulch. They can go dormant in the middle of summer, but will reshoot and flower in autumn. Drought tolerant when established, they will flower better with regular watering and feeding. Too much water can lead to rotting, as will planting the crown too deep.
