Plant description
Celosia is a quick growing annual, widespread in the tropics, valued for the unusual, bright plumed flowers. Upright plants with lance shaped foliage, which can also be coloured. Good for cut flowers, which also dry well.
Grow in rich to average, well drained soil in full sun. They tolerate dry conditions once established.
Celosia originate is Asia and Africa, where is is grown as a leaf vegetable or a cereal crop. The Victorians prized it as a showy ornamental plant.
