Plant description

Pontedera cordata is a marginal aquatic perennial plant which produces spikes of blue flowers in summer. It has erect lance shaped leaves of glossy mid green. It grows form 1 to 1.5 metres tall. It is a good bog or water garden plant, or can be container grown if kept moist to wet at all times. All parts of the plant are edible. The plant forms a spreading mat from underground rhizomes.

Propagation is by division of the plant, or by seed.
