Plant description

Senna pendula is a tough large shrub with massed sprays of yellow pea flowers at various times of the year. It has pairs of oval dark green leaves and a shiny brown trunk. After flowering, it bears long seed pods, and unfortunately it seeds readily and easily, and has become very weedy in large areas of bushland in the warmer zones. It is drought tolerant and easy to grow, but must be kept controlled and the seed pods removed before they can seed. It grows to around five metres tall.

It is a declared pest plant in Queensland.
