Plant description

Cordyline baueri 'Red Sensation' is a hardy, clump forming perennial with strikingly variegated dark maroon leaves and an upright growing habit. It brings colour and a tropical feel to gardens, and is an easy care plant. It grows to around 2.5 metres tall, and prefers a partly shaded to sunny position in a well drained soil. It will tolerate some frost and coastal conditions. Fertilise in spring with a good slow release fertiliser, and some extra potassium will enhance the leaf colouring. A good plant for a colourful accent plant, for massed planting, and does well in containers.
