Plant description

Etlingera haemisherica is an interesting variety of Torch ginger. It is a tall herbaceous tropical perennial with tall flowers and lush green foliage. The flowers are different to normal torch gingers because they don't fully open out, but form a tulip shape. They are a dark pink to red with yellow highlights in the centre, and make spectacular cut flowers. Best suited to warm areas, they are at their best in tropical to sub tropical climates. They need regular watering and fertilising. They like a full sun to part shade position. The plant will grow taller with more shade.
