Plant description

Ipomea batatas 'Sweet Caroline Sweetheart Red' is a decorative annual groundcover, with red-brown heart shaped leaves highlighted with fresh lime green new growth. An excellent easy care plant, ornamental sweet potato is a vigorous, fast growing plant that will quickly cover an area to smother out weed growth. In subtropical to tropical areas they will grow all year round. They will produce edible tubers, but they aren't sweet like normal sweet potato varieties.

Ipomea likes well drained, moist soil. They do best in a sunny position. Fertilise with a general purpose plant food if required.
