Plant description

Lavender 'Blueberry Ruffles' is an ornamental shrub with scented grey foliage and purple-blue flowers. It is a compact variety of lavender bred in Australia to tolerate humidity. It flowers from late winter through to spring, with spot flowering through the rest of the year, and the blooms sit just above the foliage. They have chunky bracts with wavy edges that give a ruffled appearance. Place where the scent of the plant can be appreciated, near paths, entry ways, windows and courtyards.

Lavender prefers a sunny position in a well drained soil. Prune after the main flowering to maintain a dense growth habit. They are dry tolerant once established. They are suitable for low hedging, container growing or as specimen plants. They are good for perfumed and sensory gardens.

The perfume of lavender is reputed to aid relaxation and sleep. It can be an allergen.
