Plant description

This herbaceous perennial has striking red edible flowers and pineapple scented foliage and is worth its spot in the garden as an ornamental apart from being a useful herb. It is easily grown from cuttings or divisions of the root system and dies down during the winter. It grows very vigorously through the warmer months and is very adaptable to different soil and climatic conditions. As well as having edible flowers, the leaves are also useful when used sparingly to give a pineapple flavour to salads or other hot foods.
