Cycas revoluta is a slow growing plant that resembles a low growing palm, as they grow from a sturdy, woody trunk and have a crown of arching tough leaves. They are only distantly related to palms. The leaves are deep green and glossy and grow from a central rosette. It is suitable for temperate, sub tropical to tropical climates, but is not frost hardy. The cycad sago palm is poisonous if eaten. Pets are most at risk, as they find the plant palatable.
Cycas revoluta is the most popular cycad in cultivation.
Propagation is by seed, or from small off shoots that grow from the base of the plant.
