Plant description

Lavender 'Riverina James' is a highly perfumed variety of the popular lavender shrub. It is densely foliaged, grey green and aromatic, with very sweetly scented dark lavender blue flowers from mid summer onwards, with spot flowering at other times of the year. The flowers are held high on long stems. It can grow to around three metres tall and two metres wide, but can be pruned to smaller dimensions if desired. Prune after the main flush of flowers to keep the dense habit. It likes a sunny position with a well drained soil. Fertilise with a slow release fertiliser in spring, along with an handful of dolomite. Place where the scent of the plant can be appreciated, near paths, entry ways, windows and courtyards. It is suitable for low hedging, container growing or as specimen plants. They are good for perfumed and sensory gardens. It is dry and frost tolerant once established. 'Riverina James' is an Australian bred plant, specifically bred to be beautifully fragrant.
