microleana stipoides weeping grass

microleana stipoides

Microlaena stipoides is an evergreen, perennial native grass. Commonly known as Weeping Grass, it has fine, slender, green leaves. Microleana can be used to create a low maintenance native lawn. When using as a lawn, plant the plants 10cm apart and mow on a high mower setting. It prefers acid soils. It is frost and drought tolerant. Grows best in partial shade.

Microlaena stipoides has potential as a grain crop, as the seed is high in protein.
